This past year has been a difficult one for peacebuilders. We are seeing the highest number of violent conflicts now since 1946 and, two billion people – a quarter of humanity – live in countries affected by conflict.
Violence is path-dependent, it has its own momentum and once it occurs it tends to perpetuate and escalate and becomes much harder to address. When we allow violent conflict to happen anywhere, it can disrupt peace everywhere.
Peacebuilding identifies the underlying root causes of conflict and reinforces the structures we need to maintain peaceful societies and prevent future violence. At a time of increasing conflict, there is an urgent need to scale up ongoing efforts to build and maintain peace and stability. As a global community, peacebuilding matters to us all.

We are committed to working with communities affected by supporting peace activists, governments and grass-roots organisations with practical tools and knowledge to resolve conflict peacefully before it escalates.
How the funds raised will be used
Your generosity will enable us to scale up our work supporting communities in conflict and to respond quickly to crises when they arise. The funds raised will be spent as required – whether to keep staff safe by ensuring we have the infrastructure to continue to be present in the most difficult places, supporting communities in new context where we are needed, or giving emergency grants to partners when violence escalates rapidly.
